Dr. Ed Peters' Women and Their Children’s Health (WaTCH) study is researching the effects of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2011 on the physical and emotional health of women and children in affected Louisiana communities. Recruitment challenges included competition from other studies and concerns about confidentiality (many of the participants are involved in ongoing BP litigation).

HCC developed a logo and an array of print materials to convey that the study understands, cares about, and respects the audience, and that it hopes to learn how to better protect the health of all residents of the Gulf communities. HCC also developed templates for a retention newsletter and a webpage on the Louisiana State University website that extended the study’s visual identity into ongoing communication efforts.
